History:
The circumstances were unfortunate. An affair between the King of Akumu and a woman of the Nightmare Court that bore fruit. Vanek's mother, Sable, was never the loving type. Cold and ruthless, she had earned her seat at the court of Nightmares. She had proven loyalty, skill, and finesse to the Kingdom of Akumu but it mattered little when Vanek came into the picture. Sable had never bore child before and when it did not kill her, the King ordered she kill it. Sable refused, stating she would tell the Queen of their transactions if he attempted it himself. Under the oath that she would not tell Vanek of his father, Sable was allowed to keep both their lives.
For the first time in her long life, Sable began to feel love. Vanek was her pride and joy. And ultimately, it destroyed her. Vanek grew, pampered by his mother and her position, and was no doubt spoiled. He was given anything he asked for. Until he asked who his father was. Sable had never lied to her son but she had never told him here nor there about the identity of his father. When he asked, she writhed under the bi-colored eyes but refused. The look of disappointment on his face was enough to send her to the King, demanding he tell Vanek that he was the father. Misunderstanding is the stepping stone of many problems. The King, believing that Vanek had already been told, stole into her home to rid himself of the problem. Vanek watched, frozen, as his mother was murdered. Slowly. Her tongue cut out first to keep her silent.
When the deed was finished, Vanek weeping at the sight, the King's mistake only escalated the problem. Grabbing Vanek, he threatened to kill him as well, the same way, if he breathed a word about being his son.
For years he sat with the knowledge that he was the son of a King. For years the images of his mother's bloody corpse plagued him. For years it kept him quiet.
But a child can only take so much.
It broke him. He nearly went mad when the sleepless nights grew to high in number, when the memories of his mother always ended in the horrific death. Vanek was no longer the once spoiled child of a dead woman. Vanek was the neglected son of a fucking King. His ideals, morals, thoughts contorted. He became wicked, every bit the part worthy enough to be the son of a murdering adulterer. He vented anger he didn't realize was built up on anyone that crossed him. Sadistic and violent, it didn't take long for him to become part of the underworld of Akumu. And, with his almost flawless commands, he became head of his own group. He was a schemer by upbringing and rumors of the King's illegitimate son spouted from his own mouth spread quickly through Akumu.
His efforts seemed to be rewarded.
He found notice from the King himself, his father, his mother's murderer. He was told that if he did not stop the rumors, he would be killed. Unfortunately, the threat fell flat. Vanek was cocky, and protected at that. No one could get close to him. And so the lie was weaved, one that promised him nobility, should he kill those that spread the rumor. The King would give him reward. Vanek was dizzy with the thought of ascending as heir apparent.
And so he obeyed. Without question, Vanek slaughtered his own gang, men who could be considered friends, men as wicked as himself, men he had enjoyed spending time with. But for his father, he murdered them all, grinning all the while. His reward was much less than he thought. Vanek nearly killed his own father when he was not instated into the royal family. Instead, he was given his mother's empty seat in the Nightmare Court. Seething, Vanek could do nothing but accept. It was this or back to the streets, back to struggling to find new men for him to control. That, combined with the notion that he could not bear anyone else taking his mother's chair, spurred him to accept.
For years, he has waited on broken promises, seated in the chair of the mother his father murdered, following orders instead of creating them. He has proven himself time and time again and now, unable to believe his day will come, Vanek has decided to take things into his own hands. With the legitimate prince ignorant to Vanek's blood and his secrets enough to have him killed for treason, Vanek has begun weaving a plan to get rid of the prince and, should it come down to it, their father as well.

Weapons:
EREBOS --- a weapon that straps to Vanek's forearm, it is concealable under his clothing and can easily tear through it. It consists of a blade that retracts upon the press of a trigger, that snaps out from the wrist and slides a grip into the palm. Long and durable, the blade can parry the best of swords, it's only weakness lying in the fact that the bolts that hold the contraption in one piece it are susceptible to breaking.
NEREZA ---- a great black raven that Vanek is rarely seen without. It's loyalty to Vanek is unwavering and it is willing to obey his command no matter how dangerous it is to the bird.
Magic:
SHIFTING ---- the ability to take an animal form and/or it's attributes. Due to his mother's affinity for ravens, Vanek's skills lie primarily in birds. While his skills are far beyond the norm with them, he has the capabilities to perform the magic of other creatures as well, to lesser extents. Nereza, the great raven he inherited after his mother's murder, is the creature he has the most compatibility with. He is able to do a great number of "fusions" with the creature, including -- but not limited to -- sprouting wings, changing into a bird-like creature himself, or morphing parts of his body to create talons.
RESENTMENT ---- While Vanek is able to activate this ability himself, he is more often than not caught up in the feeling itself, causing the magic to activate on it's own. Properly named after one of the most prominent feelings that wracks the boy, Resentment can act in two different forms. The more common of the two is a magic attack that releases a great amount of power with an almost equal amount of charging time. Vanek is susceptible to damage but should Resentment hit its target, the effects are devastating. Less common is a state of near berserk, where the magic is not all blown in one attack but flows around him with an almost tangible aura, empowering him. when the effects of either wear off, Vanek is often too weak to continue fighting for much longer.
OPEN ----- tba.

FROM THE RIDDLES I’VE BEEN FED !*The near cheerful reverie Juri had fallen into came to an abrupt halt. Her face screwed up, a hand jerking up to cover her ear, stopping halfway when the sound stopped. Her lips pursed, cracking her neck before looking over her shoulder. The Feng Shui Engine hummed, catching sight of a man in a black cloak. Curious, she turned, swinging one leg over the side, bare foot touching the cobblestones. For a long moment she studied him. A broad chest, shoved forward as he walked, an air of authority and -- something strange. Something powerful. Juri's eyes flashed.
Still sated, though at the prospect of a worthy opponent it was beginning to fade, Juri did not immediately stand. Instead, she leaned forward, grinning. He looked like he was trying to get away. Oh no. Juri wasn't going to let him do that. "Ha ha! Where are you running to, big boy?" Her voice was sharp. It demanded his attention, cocky and sure, not even considering he might ignore her. But if he did, it was just more fuel for the dull fire in her chest. The hand on the fountain tightened, released, and Juri's head tilted as though she needed to keep moving to stay sated.
Whatever it was about him, that strength that made her mouth water, Juri needed him to stay. She was reminded idly of Seth. Powerful, but not strong enough. The plan she hadn't been able to finish: pitting Bison and him against each other. Killing both of them. Taking S.I.N. It probably wasn't in the tan skinned man's best interest that he reminded her of a man she intended to kill. The fact that he looked strong alone was dangerous enough. On the bright side, the Korean was in a relatively good mood. So much so that she appeared almost harmless. Her voice held the strange lilt, arrogant and eccentric, but without her face to shift into tell-tale expressions, it would be hard for the man to tell.
Juri, accidentally feigning normality, waited for her opening.
